Movement Climbing Gym

Indoor rock climbing has quietly become one of the best rainy-day family activities in DFW, and Movement in Plano is one of the biggest and best-equipped places to try it. This large, modern facility combines rock climbing, yoga, and fitness under one roof, with beginner-friendly walls, real youth programming, and trained staff that make it welcoming for a first-timer. It is a great way to challenge kids and tweens, build confidence, and burn serious energy no matter the weather.
The Walls
Movement Plano packs in a huge amount of climbing: about 5,000 square feet of bouldering (rope-free climbing low to the padded ground) plus roughly 20,000 square feet of top-rope, lead, and auto-belay walls. The headline feature is a 55-foot lead wall, the tallest climbing wall in DFW, which gives more experienced climbers something to work toward. Auto-belay stations are the friendliest option for beginners and kids, since they let a climber go up and lower safely without needing a partner to hold the rope.
Youth Programs
This is where Movement really earns its family reputation. Programming is tiered by age:
- Little Rockers: an introductory climbing program for the youngest kids, ages 3 to 6.
- Kids climbing clubs: regular sessions for ages 6 and up.
- Summer camps and, for kids who catch the bug, a path all the way up to Team Texas, a nationally competitive youth climbing team.
For a child who does not love traditional team sports, climbing can be a great alternative, and having a real progression from Little Rockers to competitive team is a genuine draw.
Hours, Passes, and What to Know
- Location: 525 Talbert Drive, Plano.
- Hours: roughly Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Trying it out: day passes are available, and Movement often runs a 15-day trial that costs less than two day passes if you think you will come back. First-time climbers usually complete a short safety orientation before using the ropes.
- Confirm current day-pass and youth-session details, and whether kids’ times need a reservation, before you go.
First Visit Tips
Wear athletic clothing, and plan to rent climbing shoes if you do not own a pair (they are available on site). Book an intro class or orientation for a child’s first time so they learn to clip in and fall safely. As a big, climate-controlled space, it is a dependable option on rainy or brutally hot days, and it suits older kids and tweens who have outgrown toddler play centers.
Nearby Activities
Movement is well-placed for a Plano family day. Pair it with a stroll through Historic Downtown Plano, an indoor role-play adventure at KidZania Frisco, or outdoor play at the inclusive Hope Park at Frisco Commons.
